Train journeys – Bergen to Oslo – Norway

Train journeys are romantic. From my childhood days I have always enjoyed it, though now when I look back, may be the ways to enjoy this ‘like’ has changed.

May be now I will try travelling in greater comfort, thanks to my parents for making me able to do that, for making me what I am today, but the thrill I feel when the train chugs along, that’s the same.

What am trying to convey here is, I have had the luck to undertake some amazing train journeys and thus thought of sharing this series…

I start with my experience in Norway. Bergen to Oslo, taking you through the Norwegian highlands ( The lower reaches ).

Little details on the train journey –

  • Distance – 475 kms approximately
  • Duration – 7 hours average
  • NSB operates the trains, you can check the details here : NSB Booking
  • You can book online, the ‘Komfort’ class is recommended. The tickets can be collected from the vending machine at the station. Easy to operate.

The journey from Bergen gradually climbs up to the Glacial valley at Finse, and then on slowly move down to the Oslo valley. The approx route map ( thanks to Mr.Google yet again ) is :

So thus I think I should stop blabbering, and bank on the snaps I took during the journey. Hope you enjoy !
